Summer Reading

Summer Reading Basics
Summer is just around the corner and we all know what that means: Summer Reading! Here is the basic rundown of how the library can help you obtain copies of your books.

Do you have the list of books I have to read?
There are copies of the lists at the library. You can also see them online:

The following AP lists are from 2010. Updated links for 2011 will be posted as soon as they become available.

Do you have copies of the summer reading books at the library?
Yes! Each year we buy multiple copies of the books on the Briscoe & BHS reading lists. If all our copies are checked out, we can also order copies from other libraries in our system which can take a few days, but is really convenient.

I can keep my books all summer, right?
Unfortunately, no. Because there are more books on the lists now than in prior years, we can’t afford to buy 30 copies of each one, so you can only keep them out for 3 weeks. You may be able to renew them if no one is waiting.

Where are the books?
All of the books for Beverly High School and Briscoe Middle School are located on a table near the YA section. Look out for the digital picture frame in the BHS section. You might recognize the slideshow from Mrs. Fecteau’s book talks! If you have trouble finding the books, just ask any of the librarians on duty. We’re happy to help.

Are these books available on audio?
Some of them are. We’ve purchased everything that’s available on audio for all the summer reading books which means that they could be on CD or available as an online download for you to listen to. Unfortunately, not all books are made into audios, but a fair number of this year’s choices have been.

Are any of the books available as eBooks?
If it’s available as an eBook, we have it. Just search the catalog for the title you’re interested in to see if it’s available as an eBook. Again, feel free to ask us if you can’t find it.

Any other questions? Ask one of our wonderful librarians, or call us at 978-921-6062! We’re here to help and get you what you need. Happy Reading!
