The Neighbors are Watching by Debra Ginsberg

image of book coverWho has never wondered what goes in on the houses of their neighbors?  For those who might enjoy a suspenseful, voyeuristic peek into some tumultuous but interesting lives, check out this new novel from Debra Ginsberg. The Neighbors are Watching explores the lives of a handful of diverse San Diego residents inhabiting the upscale neighborhood of Fuller Court.  The story takes off with the arrival of Diana, a pregnant teenager who has absconded to live with her father, Joe, a handsome restaurant manager.  The problem is, Joe never told Allison, his schoolteacher wife, about Diana’s existence. The story then unfolds through chapters that alternately focus on different characters, though it is always told from the third person point of view.  The result is a complete picture of the dark secrets in these characters’ lives, including affairs, custody battles, and the scandal of a missing teen.  The ending may not shock you, but it will almost definitely surprise you, and you may find yourself wondering what secrets your own neighbors might hide behind their closed doors.
