Sisters Red by Jackson Pearce

image of book coverRosie and Scarlett March are sisters, sisters who hunt the foul beasts known as Fenris – what we might call werewolves. There’s something stirring among the Fenris; they’re amassing and the March girls want to know why. The mystery takes them out of the comfort zone of their rural home and into a run-down apartment in the city where they  have better access both to the packs of Fenris themselves and to the big public library where they can research the magic and myth they need to fight them.

Armed with knives and axes, and kitted out with deep red capes to entice their prey, these sisters, with their childhood friend Silas in tow, take kick-butt to a whole new level as they cut down as many of the girl-eating childhood nightmares as they can manage. Violent, suspenseful and grisly as Sisters Red is – even taken with the beautiful romantic subplot between Silas and Rosie – lovers of fluffy werewolves are encouraged not to attend this particular party. Oh, and did I mention that the cover completely rocks? Because it totally does. Recommended for fans of Carrie Ryan and Margo Lanagan.
