Readers’ Advisory

Readers’ Advisory

The Beverly Public Library offers a range of readers’ advisory services. When you contact a librarian on the Reference desk, you can receive professional help in finding your next book. By sharing some of your favorite authors, genres, and/or titles with our staff, we can customize reading recommendations for you. We also offer the following services:

  • Staff Reviews – Read reviews by the library staff.
  • Books and Authors – Advisory tool that helps library patrons decide what book to read next. Features a variety of reading lists and an interactive book selection tool called “Who? What? When? Where?” to help a reader select the perfect book to fit his or her mood.
  • The Book Seer – Quirky site that will advise you what to read next.
  • ManyBooks.net – Over 20,000 free ebooks
  • NextReads – Newsletter service that sends book suggestions via email. Each newsletter focuses on a topic, and features a mix of relevant new and older books. With direct links to the library catalog, you can place requests for the titles that interest you. There are over twenty lists for readers of all ages, and you can preview them all before subscribing.
  • Novelist – Let Novelist choose a book for you based on other books you’ve read and liked. It also includes lists of award winners, information on authors, and more.
