Fracture by Megan Miranda

Delaney Maxwell takes a risk one day in her little town in Maine by walking out on an icy pond with a bunch of her friends. Her friends make it across faster than she does, so she picks up the pace, running to make it over to them. And that is when she slips and falls, hears the ice break, and sees spider cracks expand out around her. Then the ice breaks and she falls in, plunging into  freezing cold water.

The next thing she knows, Delaney wakes up in a hospital room. The doctors are talking as if she’s a vegetable, but she’s not. She’s alive, but should she be? Delaney was underwater for 11 minutes, which is longer than any human being is supposed to survive. And next thing she knows, she’s starting to notice some very weird symptoms; she finds herself strongly pulled toward certain people for reasons she doesn’t understand.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, and is as likely to be enjoyed by fans of realistic fiction as fans of paranormal.  Delaney is one of those characters that just seems very real. This is a perfect read for winter; request it now!
