In an alternate universe Victorian England, Ciel, the Earl of Phantomhive, is a toy magnate and slim boy of twelve with an eyepatch and a penchant for complaining of intense boredom. Sebastian is his constant companion, bodyguard, advisor and butler. As Ciel seems to get in a great deal of mortal trouble on a regular basis, Sebastian’s inhuman poise and ability to master pretty much everything he tries comes in very handy. But there’s something a little fishy about the whole situation when you really think about it. Just who is Sebastian, anyway? Why is he so devilishly good at everything?
