What challenges did Greg Mortenson face as he climbed K2, the second highest mountain in the world? What does it feel like to climb straight up the face of a mountain? Experience rock climbing on the Greater Beverly YMCA (Sterling Center)’s well equipped 25 foot indoor rock wall on Sunday, March 14 from 1 – 3 PM. There are four different routes, for all abilities for ages 6 and up. This event is free and open to the public.
Join Beverly library staff and Barb Fecteau, the Beverly High School librarian, and be ready to get creative as we make and decorate simple books on Friday, March 12 from 3-4:30 PM. All of the required materials for this craft will be provided. Teens aged 10-18 are welcome.
Do you like watching animé? Do you want to hang out with other people who do, too? Then join us on the third Tuesday of each month from 3:30 to 5:30 PM in the main library’s Sohier Room for our monthly Animé Club meetings. We watch a Japanese animation DVD, eat some snacks, and all we ask you to do (besides showing up!) is to fill out a short survey about the DVD we’ve shown that day. Funimation will send us free animé DVDs for the club to view if we fill out the surveys and send them back – a pretty cool deal! You can come to just one meeting, to some, or to all of them and you don’t need to sign up. All teens aged 10-18 are welcome. Our next meeting is on Tuesday, December 15, 2009.

Buying cards isn’t very expensive, but why not get creative and make some holiday cards instead? Whether you’re into art or just want to try something different, join us as we provide you with all the materials to make unique and fun greeting cards! This event will take place in the Sohier Room on Friday, December 4 from 3 – 4:30 PM and is open to all teens aged 10-18. The workshop is free – no registration needed. We hope to see you there!
