Bookmobile ‘Open House’ October 21st!

Bookmobile LogoClimb aboard! Do you have a student who helped to raise funds for our new Bookmobile? Were you one of the hundreds of Beverly residents and library users who donated time or money to the cause? Or would you just like to see what our brand new Bookmobile is all about?

Join us for a “Bookmobile Open House” hosted by People’s United Bank, formerly Danversbank, on Sunday, October 21 from 1—3 PM. The event will be located in the bank parking lot at 63 Dodge Street, North Beverly. Bring the whole family and tour this impressive new vehicle! Meet Linda, our fabulous Bookmobile Librarian, browse and check out books, munch cookies provided by the bank, and pick up a free Frisbee.

Special guests will include Mayor Bill Scanlon and Kevin Noyes of the Danversbank Charitable Foundation*. The celebration takes place rain or shine—in case of inclement weather, the event will be held in the bank lobby. Questions? Please call Robin at 978-921-6062, or email bev@noblenet.org.

About the Bookmobile:
The new Bookmobile was custom-built by Moroney Specialty Vehicles of Worcester, Ma. and funded entirely by private donations raised between 2007 and 2010. The Beverly Public library has provided Bookmobile service to the community since 1952. The current schedule includes stops at Beverly’s public elementary schools and Briscoe Middle School, assisted living centers, the Beverly Senior Center, parks, and neighborhoods throughout the city. It circulates about 66,000 items per year, accounting for nearly 1/5 of the library’s entire annual circulation. A printable schedule is available here.

*  The Danversbank Charitable Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Danversbank, which was acquired by People’s United Bank in 2011.
