We accept donations of new and gently used books. Donated books may be added to our collection or included in our book sales. Please bring them to the library as we are not able to pick up books. We do not accept encyclopedias, magazines, textbooks or Readers Digest condensed books. Your donations are tax deductible. Should you require a receipt for tax purposes, please make a staff member aware of that when you make your donation. If you have any additional questions, please contact the library at 978-921-6062.
The Beverly Public Library depends on the generosity of donors to fund things not included in the Library budget. Donations may be in the form of securities or cash. They may be outright gifts or they may be endowments or trust funds. All donations are expended under the direction of the Board of Library Trustees. All donations are tax deductible charitable contributions. To discuss making a donation to the Beverly Public Library or the Beverly Farms Branch Library, you may contact the Library Director.
The Friends of the Beverly Public Library provide funding to underwrite many services, programs and events at the Beverly Public Library. Through their fundraising efforts, including the fall and spring book sales and merchandise sales, the Friends provide funds for both adult, children’s and teen programs, museum passes, a 3-D printer, two check-out telescopes, iPads and more. For information on how you can get involved, contact Anna Langstaff, Assistant Director at 978-921-6062. You can also like us on Facebook to keep up-to-date on all Friends events and news.
Our Annual Membership Letter is available in PDF format online and at the Library.
The Friends of the Beverly Farms Library support the Farms Branch with donations that enable us to purchase books, CDs, DVDs, and other materials that enhance the collection and provide better services. The Friends contribute to children’s programs and activities, such as the “Summer Reading Program” and monthly events at the library. Special activities sponsored by the Friends are “The Nutcracker Tea” in December and the “Library Lawn Party” in the spring. To join the Friends of the Farms Library, contact Kate Ingalls at 978-921-6066.
The Library is looking for volunteers to help return books to the stacks and to help check the correct placement of books on the shelves. Your commitment can be for as little as several hours a month to several hours a week. If you are interested, or would like more information, call 978-921-6062 and speak with the Circulation Department.
The Beverly Public Library represents less than 2% of the total municipal budget. For this small investment, our Library provides a significant cost savings each time you borrow from our collections, utilize one of our computer resources, or attend one of our program, just to name a few of our services. Our Library offers Beverly residents the best value for their tax dollars.
Please use this Value Calculator below to determine how much our Library saves you and your family each week, month, and year in out-of-pocket expenses.
- Enter in the left hand column the number of times per month you or your family use each service.
- Estimated retail value of each service will be calculated on the right.
- Total value of your library use is shown at the bottom of the worksheet.
- Tip: Tab between entries and do not use commas.
The calculator worksheet has been adapted from the downloadable spreadsheet, originally provided by the Massachusetts Library Association and then adapted for the web by Chelmsford Public Library. Maine State Library added extra accessibility coding and reformatting for ease of reading online.
