Please note that the main library’s Sunday hours, and Saturday hours at the Farms branch, will end for the season as of Memorial Day weekend. The final Sunday that the main library will be open is May 23, and the final Farms Saturday will be May 22.
The library will be starting a new automatic reserve program. You can sign up in advance for any of the authors on the list of “Beverly’s HOT 100” and when those authors have a new book coming out, your name will automatically added to the hold list. You will never have to worry again about missing out on a favorite author or finding yourself 351st on the hold list!
Starting June 1, you can fill out a sign up sheet at the library (or through the Bookmobile) and check off which authors you would like to automatically be put on hold for. Then, when that author has a new book coming out, the library will put your name on hold for it as soon as it is ordered. You might not be first – after all these are Beverly’s HOTTEST authors and we expect many people to sign up for each one – but you will definitely be a front-runner!
During May and June the librarians go to local elementary schools and talk about summer reading and recommend some great books for all the 3rd and 4th graders. Thanks to the wonderful school librarians for hosting us! This year’s theme is Go Green @ the Beverly Public Library and we are planning creative recycled crafts, Story Times for under fives, visiting with owls and insects, and reading lots of books about our planet and how to keep it healthy. Stay tuned for the summer reading list and our special events schedule, coming soon.
