Garden City Quilters Exhibit

pink and red quiltThis July the Beverly Public Library will host a special exhibit of quilts by the Garden City Quilters, a North Shore quilting group. The exhibit will include quilts that show the history of the Garden City Quilters, the charities the quilters have supported over the years, and will include a 1930’s quilt and a Christmas challenge quilt. The exhibit will be located in the Sohier Room on the first floor of the main library.

E-audiobooks from OverDrive Now iPod Compatible

Man in Headphones Users of our collection of e-audiobooks from OverDrive know that some of the titles work with iPod® and some do not. Now almost all of the titles will play on an iPhone™ and the iPod®. Just upgrade your OverDrive Media Console™ and in just a few clicks, send audiobooks to your Windows-formatted iPod using the built-in Transfer Wizard! The ‘Plays on’ icons at this site indicate whether titles are compatible with Apple® devices.

Get on Board the Story Train!

image of a trainJoin Tony Toledo, Karen Chace, and Norah Dooley on Wednesday, July 8 for the Story Train journey to Rockport to hear some great stories and picnic with friends, family and children from all over the North Shore. We’ll meet at the Beverly Depot in time to catch the 10:53am train. Please bring your train fare, picnic lunch and blanket and your family. Once we arrive in Rockport, we’ll walk to the Meadowbrook Meadow with hundreds of other North Shore children and parents for an afternoon of stories, fun, and laughter. Please plan to return on the 2pm train. Interested families can leaving their names in the Children’s Room, but registration is not required. Program will be canceled if it rains so please call the library to confirm.

Summer Reading Books

Books and appleThe Beverly Public Library has copies of the summer reading books. If all our copies are checked out, we can also order copies from other libraries in our system which can take a few days, but is really convenient. Not sure which books are on your summer reading list?

Summer Reading Kickoff Party with Author Jarrett Krosoczka

image of book coverCelebrate the official start of Summer Reading on June 27 at 2:30PM with the multi-talented author/illustrator of Punk Farm, My Buddy, Slug, and the new Lunch Lady series, soon to be a major motion picture starring Amy Poehler.
We’ll learn about where Jarrett Krosoczka gets his ideas and how he illustrates them and makes them into books. This program is free and open to children of all ages.
